WHAT IS NEET EXAMINATION AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT FOR MBBS AND WHAT IS AIPMT?

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), previously known as AIPMT which is needed to pursue MBBS, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).  AIIMS MBBS entrance exam, conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

These are the two most important national-level medical entrance exams in India. NEET exam is usually conducted in the

month of May. The exam duration is 3 hours.It consists of a single paper with 180 objective-type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

What are the main Points to remember for MBBS from abroad?

 

To pursue a medical course abroad, aspirants will soon have to clear the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).

“Those aspiring to pursue MBBS abroad will be given a No Objection Certificate (NOC) only if they have cleared NEET. The proposal is aimed at preventing mediocre medical aspirants from getting a degree from foreign medical colleges. And merely on the basis of money or connections.

There are two reasons for poor results. First, the quality of medical education imparted in many countries is substandard. Second, the students are not competitive enough to qualify for medical education in India, the official explained.“Hence, we want only competent students to join medical colleges in foreign countries so that when they return they are at least aware of the subjects they have learned for giving NEET,” he added. Every year, around 12 lakh students sit for the MBBS examination.

Around 11.5 lakh students registered for NEET 2017. This is one of the most important reasons for poor performance in subjects like community medicine, obstetrics & gynecology and pediatrics, said the official

NEET mandatory to study MBBS from abroad? Current students exempted

  • “It is informed that the regulations prescribe that the Indian citizens or Overseas Citizen of India intending to obtain a primary medical qualification from any medical institution outside India, on or after May 2018, shall have to mandatorily qualify the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), for admission to MBBS course abroad.
  • Earlier this month, the ministry had made NEET mandatory for the Indian candidates who wish to obtain medical qualifications from abroad.
  • Every year, around 7,000 students go outside India to study medicine. Most of the students go to China and Russia.  This is really a matter of concern as they go out, spend lot of money of their parents and are not able to contribute to the healthcare in India once they come back,” an official said.

IS NEET must for candidates aiming to obtain medical qualifications from abroad?

The Health Ministry today clarified that Indian candidates who intended to obtain medical qualifications from abroad. That after May this year they will have to qualify the neet.

NEET 2017 News: Plan to make NEET compulsory for students planning to study MBBS abroad presented to MCI, report

The Union health ministry is likely to make the medical entrance exam. National Eligibility Entrance Test NEET 2017 mandatory for aspirants who travel abroad for undergraduate medical courses.

In case the medical aspirants fail to get the no-objection certificate they won’t be able to practice in India.

The MCI president further added that as of now the quality of students who go abroad is not great . As very less than a quarter of students clear the screening test every year.

As per the Indian Medical Council Act, the citizens with undergraduate degrees from outside India need to clear the screening test. It is conducted in every June and December.And with a 50% score, before doing a one-year internship in an MCI-recognised medical college.
