Ternopil State Medical University is a medical university in the Ternopil city of Ukraine. It was founded in 1957 and by 1997 it had received the official status of a medical academy, and by 2004 that of a university. It is one the biggest and most recognized medical universities in Ukraine.
What is the campus structure?
More than 1500 international students from 53 different countries are studying in the Ternopil State Medical University. At present this Ukrainian university consists of 408 faculties with distinct qualifications. The campus has 10 lecture-halls equipped with modern demonstration equipment. The practical classes and medical seminars are accommodated in the fully-equipped laboratories and classrooms of the TSMU campus, while the clinical training takes place in the several clinical wards and laboratories for functional and instrumental diagnostics.
It has four primary departments, namely:
- Medicine Department
- Dental Department
- Pharmaceutical Department
- Nursing Department
How is the student life at Ternopil State Medical University?
A typical class at TSMU is held from 9 am to 3 pm. Languages of instruction are Ukrainian, English, and Russian. The University also collaborates with a number of foreign institutions to facilitate post-graduation opportunities for the medical practitioners residing at the establishment.
The university is listed in the FAIMER directory under ECFMG and the WHO (World Health Organization) directory of Medical Universities/Schools. TSMU’s degree is also recognized by the WHO, US Education Department, General Medical Council of England, and many countries under EU.
Since 2005, the students are assessed according to the European Credit Test System (ECTS) credit-module system, which will allow the diplomas granted by the University to be converted in all countries of the European Union.
Where does it stand in the university rankings?
The Ukrainian Ministry of Health has ranked Ternopil State Medical University first among the best medical universities in the country. It has been also awarded the greatest accreditation level by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
